Segovia Student Sailing Team

The student sailing team of IE University in Segovia. We train crews, we race in the Mediterranean, and we carry our university colours on the water.

Who we are

SegoSPI brings together students of IE University in Segovia around a shared passion: sailing. Founded in 2024, the association trains its crews, organises sailing weekends, and enters the university into the Challenge SPI Dauphine, which brings together close to a thousand students from across Europe.

Our members come from dozens of countries, and many discover sailing with us. That is part of the project: making this sport accessible to students who would never otherwise have stepped on a boat.

We train on the waters around Segovia, we prepare navigation, safety and tactics, and we fund every season collectively.

The Challenge SPI Dauphine

Every year the Challenge SPI Dauphine gathers close to a thousand students from universities and business schools across Europe, racing in about forty crews. The regatta takes place under the authority of the Yacht Club de France, in the Mediterranean.

The boats are identical. What makes the difference is preparation, crew cohesion and how well you read the water. Our goal for 2027 is a better prepared team and a result that matches our members' commitment.

Partners and supporters

Support us

We are looking for partners to fund the 2027 season: entry fee, boat rental, transport, accommodation, safety and equipment.

Every contribution matters, and everyone gives what they wish. The more substantial your support, the more space your brand takes: on the sail, on the boat, on our kit, in our communications and at our events.

There are other ways to support us

We are glad to receive products instead of a financial donation: equipment we can use during our sailing weekends, or products we serve at our fundraising evenings and use for our raffles.

  • Sailing and sports equipment
  • Products to serve at our events
  • Raffle prizes

What a partner gets

  • Your brand on the boat and on the sail
  • Your brand on our kit and our communications
  • Posts before and during the competition
  • A presence across our student and alumni network
Tax

What your donation changes for you

We are an association registered in France. The tax benefit therefore depends on the country where you pay tax, and it is not always straightforward to obtain across borders. Here is what we can honestly say, without promising more than reality.

France

Most straightforward
  • Company: 60% tax reduction on the amount given, up to EUR 2m of donations a year.
  • Individual: 66% of the donation, within 20% of taxable income.

Tax receipt (Cerfa 11580) issued by the association, which reports its donations to the tax authority.

Spain

  • Sponsorship: your support is treated as a deductible business expense.
  • Donation with the local 40% relief, or 50% if repeated for three years: Spanish law reserves it for entities recognised in Spain, which we are not.

So we do not promise that relief. Depending on your situation it can go through a Spanish partner: let us talk.

United Kingdom

  • Sponsorship: deductible from the company taxable profit.
  • Donation: Gift Aid no longer applies to non-UK organisations since April 2024.

Sponsorship is therefore the realistic route for a UK company.

Other countries

  • Sponsorship: the safest option, as a deductible business expense.
  • Tax receipt in your own country: a European network, Giving Europe, makes it possible, with an approval process and fees.

It takes time and is never guaranteed. Write to us before committing.

This summary is given in good faith for an association registered in France. It is not tax advice: your finance team remains the judge.
